Batteries retired from electric vehicles still hold significant usable capacity, but predicting how quickly a specific used battery will keep degrading is hard, which makes homeowners and installers reluctant to rely on them for solar storage. This paper trains a forecasting model on real second-life battery usage data to predict remaining useful life within a home solar setup, letting installers set realistic capacity guarantees instead of avoiding second-life batteries altogether.
