RiverRanch ’08 Part III {0}

RossDixon

You may not know it, but the PCA has a college ministry called RUF (Reformed University Fellowship) that is active on many college campus’ today. University of Missouri is one such campus and this year our speaker for RiverRanch ’08 is Ross Dixon the Campus Minister for Mizzou.

Ross and his wife, Jenny, met and married in Birmingham, Alabama. Six months later they moved to St. Louis, where Ross attended Covenant Theological Seminary and graduated with a Master of Divinity degree. Jenny has a Masters degree in physical therapy and works as a part-time physical therapist at Boone Hospital here in Columbia. Ross and Jenny have a daughter, Avery, who is 4-years-old and becoming an accomplished swimmer and dancer. Ross will be teaching a series entitled Life in the Kingdom from the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 5-7.

RiverRanch ’08 Part II {0}

This week is RiverRanch ’08 Info Week. What that means is each day there will be a post telling you something different about our trip to RiverRanch this summer June 23rd – 27th. Today I want to show you some of the fun that was had in our three day one church version of it in 2007.

Since this years trip is also the Heartland Presbytery Camp meaning we go all week and will be joined by at least three more PCA churches and students friends. Enjoy the video below, this footage is from last years trip that I only recently finished editing. If you want to see more pictures and info from last year check out the 2007 RiverRanch webpage.

Heartland Presbytery Camp: RiverRanch ’08 {1}

2008 marks the first ever Heartland Presbytery Camp. Redeemer is part of a denomination called the PCA (Presbyterian Church in America), the denomination is broken up across the country into smaller groups of churches in what are called presbytery. Until recently our presbytery included Kansas, Nebraska and NW Missouri. Nebraska has since formed it’s own presbytery (which is good, means we are growing) leaving Kansas and the KC area as the standing Heartland Presbytery.

All that to say we are spending a week with our greater covenant community this summer June 23-27. The name of this “camp” is RiverRanch ’08. Many of you know this name from our trip last summer. Same location, twice as long, more students, more games, more canoe sinking, more fire side stories, more swimming, more putt putt, more time in the Holy Word of God. We may even attempt to make “Baptizing” Rick Creecy an annual event.

More info each day this week.

High School Sunday School {0}

This Sunday the High School begins studying the book of Ephesians. While Brian will teach this Sunday the rest of the quarter will be taught by Matt Austin. For those of you who don’t know Matt and his wife Mary Katherine attended Oklahoma State University before coming to Kansas City where he is pursuing an MD. That is fancy talk for to be a doctor. Anyway to prepare for Sunday School this week simply read the first 14 verses of Ephesians which are listed below in the ESV. Look forward to seeing all y’all after a long trip to Texas.

“Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, To the saints who are in Ephesus, and are faithful in Christ Jesus:2 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places,4 even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love5 he predestined us for adoption as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will,6 to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved.7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace,8 which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight 9 making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ 10 as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth. 11 In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will, 12 so that we who were the first to hope in Christ might be to the praise of his glory. 13 In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, 14 who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory.”
