New Youth Room Painted

2010
07.23

We inherited the basement (sure feels good to say that word again) of the south building for youth use this past May. I believe it will be a great place for the youth. However, their was much work to be done. The carpet was very gross, the walls needed painting and everything needed to be cleaned badly. This past Monday we invited anyone who wished to serve to come help clean and paint. Sam B., Roxie and Renae Vos all came out to help with this work and the results are great.

On Wednesday morning I came in to find things looked better than when I had left on Tuesday, even the supplies were organized. Turns out the whole Vos family came up during the night and worked on the place.

So anyway, check out our new digs.

Here is the main room after the carpet has been removed, the floors have been painted, but before the walls are painted.

Progressive Dinner 2009 - 39

Thanks to all our helpers with the Progressive Dinner this year. This year Norma and Travis helped with driving. The night began at Redeemer and immediately headed to the Thomas’ home for peach cobbler, apple crisp and ice cream. After that the group stopped by the Creecy’s home for tasty fondue. We dipped chunks of apple and bread into the pot, great experience many had never had before. Spring Hill had their prom Saturday and The Lutz hi-jacked Zach’s limo and stopped by so we could all get in. I expect it would be very hard to parallel park that thing, but then who parallel parks a limo. The third stop of the night was at the Basham’s where we munched on tatter tots and french fries while playing air hockey in the basement. The final stop of the night was at the Vos’ home for homemade lasagna and bread sticks. Thank you to everyone who took part in this annual event. More pics after the link below.

Game Night Recap

2008
12.30

2008 late december 201

Game Night at the Ardiles really was fun tonight. Tomi, Debbie, Travis, Laura, Zach, Joey, Rick, Joy, Tanner, Elizabeth, Emily, Renae, Roxie, Connor, April, Robbie, Michie and myself had a great time. Debbie cooked some tasty Peruvian dish which Travis referred to as, “donuts and mustard dip.” I rebuke him. Joy is the Mal Mal (which Travis calls MoMo) champ while Joey won and then lost at nerviosa. Roxie stuck Tomi with a handful of cards, but it really was nothing compared to Connor’s near complete collection of cards. Thank you Ardiles for having us over for a great night of fun and fellowship. More photos inside post.

Review: Breakaway February 20th

2008
02.20

Tonight’s Study

Tonight at Breakaway we looked at Jesus’ interaction with the Pharisees in regards to whether his disciples were breaking the Sabbath when they picked food on the Sabbath. This lead to a discussion of each families’ practice of setting apart the Lord’s Day. I encourage you to think about what ways your family might set apart Sunday more intentionally for worship and rest. Perhaps having homework done on Friday or Saturday, I don’t know what it will look like for your family, but spend some time thinking about and then help your children to understand what and why you set apart the Lord’s day from the other six days of the week.
