Friday night junior high and senior high students played Loaded Questions, Nervous and Taboo at the Hough’s home. Unfortunately when playing games we often forget to take pictures during the games. It was a great time, thank you to all who participated. More photos after the link.

Do Something Awesome! Next Friday Night
03.28

Once a month I get together with the other Kansas City area PCA youth pastors to work on Presbytery Camp, share thoughts, and pray for each other. As we’ve been thinking about how all our students will be spending a week with each other this summer at RiverRanch ‘08 (June 23rd -27th) we thought it would be a good idea to get everyone together for a time of fellowship, games, snacks and learning about our wider covenant community. We are going to do just that on Friday, April 4th 2008 at New Hope PCA in Olathe (Northwest Corner of 135th and Blackbob).
We plan to get together as a group on a quarterly basis for a variety of events. We are referring to these times as, “Something Awesome!” Students 6th grade through 12th grade are invited, be sure to invite friends who may be interested in RiverRanch as well or anyone else.
Plan to do Something Awesome next Friday from 8-10 p.m.
RiverRanch ‘08 Part III
03.13

You may not know it, but the PCA has a college ministry called RUF (Reformed University Fellowship) that is active on many college campus’ today. University of Missouri is one such campus and this year our speaker for RiverRanch ‘08 is Ross Dixon the Campus Minister for Mizzou.
Ross and his wife, Jenny, met and married in Birmingham, Alabama. Six months later they moved to St. Louis, where Ross attended Covenant Theological Seminary and graduated with a Master of Divinity degree. Jenny has a Masters degree in physical therapy and works as a part-time physical therapist at Boone Hospital here in Columbia. Ross and Jenny have a daughter, Avery, who is 4-years-old and becoming an accomplished swimmer and dancer. Ross will be teaching a series entitled Life in the Kingdom from the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 5-7.
Surrounded By Enemies
03.01

“That Incredible Christian” is a collection of writing from A.W. Tozer. Below is paragraph from this book which I have found especially encouraging and challenging. I’ve added some questions below to help us think about the ideas Tozer pushes into the light.
The Secret to Life is Theological
“Whatever keeps me from the Bible is my enemy, however harmless it may appear to be. Whatever engages my attention when I should be meditating on God and things eternal does injury to my soul. Let the cares of life crowd out the Scriptures from my mind and I have suffered loss where I can least afford it. Let me accept anything else instead of the Scriptures and I have been cheated and robbed to my eternal confusion. The secret of life is theological and the key to heaven as well. We learn with difficulty, forget easily and suffer many distractions. Therefore we should set our hearts to study theology. We should preach it from our pulpits, sing it in our hymns, teach it to our children and make it the subject of conversation when we meet with Christian friends.”
Personal Questions
- Have I read my Bible lately? If not what has kept me from it?
- How might I fight this “enemy” tomorrow and the next day?
- How am I teaching my children (or my friends) what I’ve learned in my Study?
- How can Scripture/Theology be implemented into conversations with friends and family?
