Sibling Relationships Part III {0}
This week at Breakaway we will finish up our study on what God’s Word teaches us to treat our brothers and sisters. While this is specifically about Brothers and Sisters (or any other combination of that) relating with each other it is more broadly understood in how we relate to anyone in our covenant community. Below are the verses we’ll be looking over.
4. Peacemaking should always be a priority.
““Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.” (Matthew 5:9 ESV)
“So then let us pursue what makes for peace and for mutual upbuilding.” (Romans 14:19 ESV)
“If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.” (Romans 12:18 ESV)
5. Wise use of our speech helps keep peace with brothers and sisters.
“A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.” (Proverbs 15:1 ESV)
“A gentle tongue is a tree of life, but perverseness in it breaks the spirit.” (Proverbs 15:4 ESV)
“There are six things that the Lord hates, seven that are an abomination to him: 17 haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, 18 a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, 19 a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers.” (Proverbs 6:16–19 ESV)
