Church History Papers {0}

The Freshman and Sophomore students at WCA turned in their Biography papers on Monday and did a great job. I wanted to share a few great lines from their papers.

“Basil lived in a time of confusion and distrust, when the truth was hidden and charity was rare…. His determination to fight what he knew to be wrong and to spread what he knew to be right is what I hope is true of my life. I hope that when I have to defend my faith one day, I will stand convicted just as Basil did before Modestus and never back down.” – Jeremy Johnson on Saint Basil

“Whatever good Nero may have done culturally or in developing the Roman infrastructure is overshadowed by matricide, debauchery, and the barbaric treatment of Christians.” – Chris on Nero

“Make knowledge of the Scripture your love…Live with them, meditate with them, and make them the sole object of your knowledge and inquires.” -Jerome (guy who translated OT and NT into Latin Vulgate.This was in Abbie’s paper.

“The spreading of the Jewish population spread the population of the growing Christian population throughout the Mediterranean, giving the church a running start in the world.” Gentry on the positive effects of Vespasianus on the church in history.
