Love ^{0}

I’ve been thinking about love this week, how we think of it, that it originate with God, is expressed ultimately in the trinity and shown in the gospel as Christ laid his life down for the those he would redeem and how it must be in Christians going up to God and out to the world. One image that came to mind was the way a drop of water hits a still body of water. The drop coming down is the cause of a stream of water going back upward and ripples going out in every direction. What a beautiful image of Love. Originates with God to his people and it causes our love going back up to Him and out in every direction as we love our brothers and sisters in Christ as well as the community we live in. BMT Road Trip: Day Three ^{1}

Friday morning we awoke in Houston, ate breakfast tacos made with fresh tortillas and headed for New Braunfels, TX. On the way there Connor gained an addiction to Whataburger, a Texas based burger joint. Along the drive he counted over 50 of them and wanted to stop at most of them. We were also able to give the students the experience of taking a Texit when a tractor trailer wreck brought the high way to a complete stop. In New Braunfels we tubed the Comal river, the world’s shortest river at a mere 2.5 miles long. Spring fed it is a perfect 68 degrees all year long. After that we stopped at a Mexican restaurant for fajitas, made Joy drink tons of water (dehydration) and headed over to Faith PCA in San Antonio who opened their doors for us to stay the night in their sanctuary. Nothing was locked in the building, they trusted us completely which was a wonderful feeling. We had the travel version of Summer Gathering going over our I Kissed Dating Goodbye books . BMT: Road Trip Day Two ^{0}

Day two we awoke in McKinney which is just north of Dallas. Rick and I were invited to go up in Zach and Connor’s uncle’s two passenger plane. It was an amazing experience, especially for me as I hate planes. By 7 a.m. we were on the road heading to Galveston where Zach and Connor would see the ocean for the first time in their life. Along the way we stopped at Wings N More, the best chicken fingers on the planet and then ran by Minute Maid Park (home of the Astros, who were playing our Royals at that moment) After Galveston, we returned to my parents house in Spring (North of Houston) where Rick cooked up the fresh shrimp we bought in Galveston. We listened to Doing Missions When Dying is Gain by Piper on our way to Galveston, it is hard not to get excited for missions after listening to that. If your children sell themselves into slavery to go preach the gospel in a muslim land, blame Piper. For pictures and more info on this day follow the link below.

BMT: Road Trip Day One ^{0}

I’ve decided to do the post on the Border Mission Trip in a few portions. This year we took a road trip before getting to Laredo, the first few post will chronicle the trip there, then what we did getting there followed by our drive home. 8 total people drove and four flew. In the van we drove 2458 miles going to Dallas, Galveston, Houston, New Braunfels, San Antonio, Austin and Laredo. Follow the link to see pics and read about the first day of travel.
