Tonight we began with a classic tag team Peeps eating relay. Mr Maguire lead us in prayer before singing Come Ye Sinners and dividing into smaller teaching groups. Elementary continued their study of 25 Basic Bible Studies by Francis Schaeffer. This week they were looking at Old Testament Prophesies which spoke of the coming of Christ. Junior High and High School is in week two of a study on the Life of Peter. This week it was Luke 5:1-11 where Jesus tells Peter to throw out his fishing nets at a time that does seems unlikely to gain results. After catching more fish than he ever though possible Peter responds by unexpectedly falling at Jesus’ feet saying, “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord.” I loved teaching it. I hate golf, there I said it. I enjoy about 9 holes and then I wish I was anywhere, but on a golf course. Almost anywhere, I would rather golf than watch WNBA. I do however care about Westminster Christian Academy and the work God is doing in the lives of the students who attend WCA so I’ve agreed to take part in their Golf Marathon. 100 holes, meaning I’ll be miserable for 91 holes with Tony, Nathan and Ubuntu.
The way this works is we need to find people like you who will sponsor me for a dollar a hole, that is $100 total. The money goes to WCA scholarships and you get the joy of knowing I played a 100 holes of golf in one outing. I’ll post on here how it went with photos of everything I do to my teammates after the event takes place on May 4th 2009. Plus I plan to win this even though it is not a competition. I will make competitions. Who can put the most golf balls in your pockets? Who can hit a ball the furthest like Happy GIlmore? Who can sing long enough to drive Tony nuts? Who can get their ball closest to the cat sitting near the hole 13? Who can hit a ball off Ubuntu’s face without hitting his face. That sort of stuff.
So I’m asking if you will sponsor me for $100. If you will please call me asap at 913-439-9319 or email me at bhough@redeemer-pca.org and let me know. Thank you for supporting WCA and my quest for victory.

Tonight was a wild night. Each week before we get started we do a fun little game. Last week Katie Thomas brought up the idea of eating worms and so I talked to a few parents who agreed to let their children eat worms. In the end the plan was for Connor Lutz and Momo Creecy to battle it out to see who could eat the most worms. One change was made when Corbin came up to me and said he wants to do whatever the game is tonight. I told him, “believe me, you don’t want to do tonight’s game.” I asked if he wanted eat something gross and he began to list off things he’s eaten, fish, bugs, worms, etc (he didn’t know it was a worm yet). I figure he was bluffing and decide to bring him upfront only to let him off afterwards. He takes the lid of and you can see the surprise on his face. Then without hesitation he picks it up and goes straight to his mouth as he begins to chew. Rule 1 of eating worms, you never chew. Rule number 2, never forget rule number 1. He got the thing mostly down and then we saw the worm again. I was so shocked and impressed all at once.
Connor and Momo battled it out with Connor finishing his worms faster than most people could eat gummy worms. The man has a future in competitive eating. The Younger group played Tennis ball Frenzy a wild game involving 50 tennis balls. Junior High and Senior High began a study following the life of Peter that will continue the rest of the school year. Tonight we looked at Christ’s renaming of Simon Bar Jonah to Peter as well as the call of Christ to Peter and his brother Andrew to leave their life of fishing to follow Jesus. I’m excited for this study and hope students will be just as excited each week to continue this study.
Huge thanks to Jake Maguire, Sandra, Scott Brown, Ubuntu Shanahan Momo Creecy and Laura for all the help they give each week. Follow link for more pics of the night of Tennis Ball Frenzy and worm eating. You must check out the worm eating.
