Jacob Christopher Vos graduated last Spring from Kansas City Christian and based on the picture above has not changed much in the last month (This is a good thing!). He is currently in Minneapolis, Minnesota attending the University of Minnesota. Go Golden Gophers! Jacob is majoring in Electrical Engineering and hopes to save the world using that major. Perhaps he could explain that further in the comments. Living on campus in the dorms he has met a ton of new people but has enjoyed hangout most with a girl named Ellie cause she reminds him of Momo. This of course means Ellie gets teased a great deal which is good for everyone around her though not so much for her. Follow link for rest of story and more photos.
(Beckham thinks this is Joy, but really it is Cayla the Minnesodian)
Jacob’s biggest challenge so far has been getting people to understand when he is just being sarcastic. While that takes some time, most of his time is spent in class, eating and hanging out with new friends in the dorm. Physics is his favorite class because the teacher is funny (know any good physics jokes?). Best food in town in Panda Express so I guess the rest of us are not missing much on that front.
You may not know that the PCA (Presbyterian Church in America, our denomination) have begun planting a church in Minneapolis along with an RUF (Reformed University Fellowship) campus organization. Jacob will be one of the first people involved with both these projects. The two guys involved with the plant are great and I expect will be great examples of living out faith in Christ for Jacob during his years there. So far though these plants are going slow and Jacob has been attending John Piper’s (yes my hero) church, Bethlehem Baptist. Piper has some non-covenantal views on Baptism, but his passion for Christ is something we should all pray for.
(Jacob uses Colgate toothpaste and has a Dwight bobblehead doll, plus if you look close there is the picture of Momo that Momo gave him)
Please keep Jacob and all our college students in your prayers as they continue this stage of living out their faith away from their immediate family and home church. Finally if you wish to keep up with what is going on with Jacob you can visit his blog, Jacob the Gopher at http://jacobthegopher.blogdrive.com/

Wow, Jacob is almost there for a mullet…
