Where Are They Now: Rick Creecy {1}

Rick Barry “Crusoe” Creecy is a senior at the great Texas A&M University located in College Station, Texas. He is majoring in Classical Studies of Ancient Greek Language which he hopes to use serving the Lord in vocational ministry. The best friend Rick has met while at school is Travis Hensley because he he has been there for Rick no matter what is going on.

When asked what the biggest challenge so far has been, Rick responded, “The biggest challenge so far is the pain I have to go through when I watch my younger brothers and sisters in Christ go to inferior schools, and delude themselves that their school is even close to Texas A&M.” When not giving interviews Rick spends his time hanging out with his roommate Ian or his fiancee Tiffany. Many of you enjoyed throwing mud, pickles, chocolate and various other substances at her this past substance. While I may or may not have been in attendance at this I’ve yet to see any photo evidence that it took place.

Rick’s favorite class is Forensic Science because it has given him hope that Bigfoot might actually exist. More importantly he claims the best food in town is Martin’s BBQ though my personal knowledge of the town leaves me wondering how Freebirds and Wings N More are not on his list. He is most excited about getting married and getting his aggie ring next semester. Rick is currently part of  RUF (Reformed University Fellowship) and Trifecta Bigfoot Society (Which I hope also doesn’t really exist).

Sunday’s Rick is attending Westminster Presbyterian Church (PCA), which is a bit different from  Redeemer. Westminster is a great place to worship in College Station though as they are a body of brothers and sisters in Christ who understand the doctrines of grace and challenge college students to mightily pursue Christ.

Now is we can just get Rick to understand that clothes are supposed to be removed before putting them in the washing machine.

WCA Soccer 2008 {0}

This year the Eagles soccer team has 2 wins 3 loses and 2 ties. We’ve faced some tough teams and done very well against them. In only the third season of the WCA soccer program Tony and I have been very pleased with the effort put out by the guys. Our next home game is October 6th at Westminster on Calvin Field. Come support the team if you are able.

Where Are They Now: Emily Walters {0}

EmilyWalters

Emily Jane Walters is a sophomore at Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa (about 45 miles north of Sioux City, Iowa, which is the place David Letterman gets the Top 10 list from.). There are about 1,300 students at Dordt which is affiliated with the Christian Reformed Church in North America denomination. Their sports teams go by The Dordt Defenders though their football team is apparently not real good at that as they are 0-4 so far this year.

Emily is a double major in Art and History. When in Kansas we show her a great number of paintings and learn that most show a great deal about man’s fallen nature and redemption. In response to the question of what she’ll do with an art/history major she responds, “What can’t you do with an Art/History major?” Emily gains most of her exercise as a side effect of living on the 3rd floor of an on campus dormitory.

Best friend she’s met while at school is Nadji because she is incredibly random and fun to be around. Not only that, but Nadji has amazing cow milking skills and has promised to name a cow after Emily sometime (most would question the friendship at this point).

Emily’s biggest challenge so far is learning how to balance friendships and homework, as well as breaking outside of her comfort zone to try something new: like milking cows and making all names sound Dutch, Van Der Walters. Most of her time is spent school-related, such as going to class, doing homework and then in the evening she hangs with friends and apparently drives around in a plush chair. On top of all that Emily is a member in the Choir and the Philosophy Club learning about So-crates.

Her favorite class is painting where they use oil paints and listen to great music while painting man’s fallen nature and redemption. She gets to use Liquinn and Turpenoid which only draws a blank to myself. After all that time at school she enjoys day old donuts and bread from Casey’s Bakery, which is a long standing Dordt tradition.

Emily is most excited about going to a huge corn maze in a few weeks. We hope to have pictures as I can’t quite imagine what a corn maze is, in Texas you get shot for messing with people’s corn. In Texas you get shot for a great many things.

She attends church at Cornerstone in Sanborne which is 40 minutes away. Cornerstone is a part of the URC, a Dutch conservative reformed denomination (which means we can call it Van Der Cornerstone). They have a liturgy similar to Redeemer’s and the preaching is great. Her favorite part though is the people, older couples regularly invite the Dordt College students over for lunch on Sundays.

Please continue to pray for Emily and that other Walter’s girl we hope to hear from in the future.

Where are they Now: Jacob Vos {4}

jacob2

Jacob Christopher Vos graduated last Spring from Kansas City Christian and based on the picture above has not changed much in the last month (This is a good thing!). He is currently in Minneapolis, Minnesota attending the University of Minnesota. Go Golden Gophers! Jacob is majoring in Electrical Engineering and hopes to save the world using that major. Perhaps he could explain that further in the comments. Living on campus in the dorms he has met a ton of new people but has enjoyed hangout most with a girl named Ellie cause she reminds him of Momo. This of course means Ellie gets teased a great deal which is good for everyone around her though not so much for her. Follow link for rest of story and more photos.

Gone Fishin’ {6}

laura099

You may or may not know that I’ve had a feud with Pastor Nathan’s fish for some time now. It didn’t begin personal, but I’d be lying if I didn’t say it is now very personal. You see his giant fish named Adolf is a tyrant, he used to kill the smaller fish in his tank and even ate a crawdad (crawfish for you yankees) I put in there to be his companion once. He has killed other fish that lived with him and recently found himself as the the lone king of the tank. It is important to note that Monday is Nathan’s day off. Nathan asked Lydia to feed his fish that day and I asked her not to feed him so he would get hungry. Well presence is 9/10 of the argument and she sided with me against evil in the form of a fish. Today it paid off as I placed one moth on my hook and went fishing in Nathan’s office. Adolf could not resist the temptation of the tasty moth and immediately went for it. I hooked him and the rest is history. Tonight, fish everywhere will sleep well knowing that they are once again safe from the tyranny of Adolf. Follow link for more photos.

Shari vs Tony PPF {1}

Last summer when all returned from Horn Creek there were murmurs of a great battle being fought in the little know league of Professional Pillow Fighting. Shari “smack you upside the head” Felich challenged Tony “Smack me upside the head” Felich to a dual of the ages. Finally, after making many deals I’ll grow to regret I have obtained the only existing video of this historic event. The video above of this battle is more important than even Bigfoot video, mostly because the creatures in this video actually exist.
