Breakaway is Back!{1}

BreakawayPalmFinalMedium

Breakaway is a time for students to come sings songs of worship, play games, pray, and learn about our great God each Wednesday night while school is in session. This year we will be doing a study through the Westminster Shorter Catechism(WSC). Not memorization, but a study of some of the concepts supported by Biblical passages. For those of you not familiar the WSC it is a series of questions and answers completed in 1648. It is designed to help people of all ages gain an understanding about why they exist, who God is and what Scripture teaches. Each week we will go over a new question.

During the year we send out an email with info about upcoming events and with info about what we’ve been teaching. This is also one way we inform of cancelation due to weather or other such issues. We will collect email addresses from your children the first two weeks. If you wish to be removed from that list simply reply and ask, if you do not get on the list and wish to be added please email me at bhough@redeemer-pca.org. The other way to stay up on what is going on and cancelations is to visit our youth blog at www.TheGraze.org

Basic Times

6:30 – 8:00 Elementary Students (2nd – 5th)

6:30 – 8:30 Junior High (6th – 8th) and High School Students (9th- 12th)

Further Explanation

We are trying something a little different this year with Breakaway. We will start at 6:30 with Elementary (2nd grade – 5th grade) and Junior High (6th grade – 8th grade) as participants. Some high school students will serve as helpers for the elementary group during this time period. By 7:35 the elementary group will be done and dismissed to supervised free time in the gym which last until 8:00. Parent pick up time is 8:00.

However students in 6th grade – 12th grade will participate in another time of study and games from 7:35 – 8:30. This could cause pick-up/drop off issues for families with students in both groups. So if you have a junior high student you can tell them to leave at 8:00 with their younger sibling or the younger sibling is free to play in the gym until 8:30 with adult supervision. If you are still confused read the time guide below.

Time Guide by Grade

2nd – 5th grade: drop off before 6:30 (we’ll start exactly at 6:30 in the Youth Room) and pick up at 8:00 (unless they are waiting for older sibling to finish)

6th – 8th grade: drop off at 6:30 (again, we’ll start exactly at 6:30 in the Youth Room) and pick up at 8:30 (unless you wish for them to leave with younger sibling early).

9th – 12th drop off at 6:30. Pick up at 8:30

Drop off and Dismissal Procedure

Drop off: Please drop your students off at the main WCA entrance on the East side of the building where they will check in before heading downstairs to the Youth Room.

Pick Up: If you pull up to the door at 8:00 we’ll have someone waiting with cell phone/walkie talkie to inform adults inside you’re here for your students. We’ll then send them out to you (you are of course always welcome to come inside and get them if you wish).
