Notice the Texas flag is higher than the American. I’m not saying it is right, but it could only happen Texas.

Day One

2008
07.26

The plane ride went well as has answered our prayers for traveling mercies. Our team has bonded wth the Iowanians very well. It is such a blessing to work along side such a great group.

it is 4:30 a.m. as I write this. Joy had some breathing issues due to asma (sp?). Becky Kramer is a doctor and determined that we needed to take her to the ER. So Becky, Gene, Laura, April (her roommate) and I traveled to Las somethinrather Hospital. They treated her for a few hours and praise be to God she is going to be fine.

In a few hours we will attend the East El Paso church plant for Sunday worship. This will be in English which is new for mission trip Worship. I’ll try to keep you updated. be sure to keep checking our flickr account for photos

Gone to Mexico…ah Texas

2008
07.26

God willing by the time this publishes we will be on a plane to Texas. We’ll stop in Dallas for awhile and then continue to El Paso where our team of 29 people (17 Redeemer, 12 Iowa) will work with the local PCA Mission Team (BEAMM) on a project they have been working on all summer. What we’ll be doing is finishing building a home for a family whose previous home burned to the ground many years ago. Since then they have been living in an office at an auto repair place with no running water. They literally bring it in by buckets. Other teams have been doing construction this summer and we will now come in to do the finishing touches. Tile, painting, driveway, fixing things we break, and whatever else we are able to do to serve God in this community.

While we have no computer access I do have a sweet new phone that should allow us post updates on here and I know I’ll be able to upload some photos to our flickr account so check that from time time. Please pray for our safety, traveling mercies, our unity and that we would grow in our relationship with Christ as we unplug from the world for a week and selflessly serve Christ’s Church. Summer Gathering, Sunday School and Discipleship will go on as usual.
