Day One Over

2008
07.28

We are on the vans back to Travelodge after finishing day one’s work. We painted the outside of the house, painted the inside of the house, painted Harriet, framed a slab for a basketball court, hung a door, told Nathan to put down his phone, put up trim, used port a potty, and more.

Tonight we will sleep good.

Happy 28th of July!

2008
07.28

What? I mean 4th of July right? No, Tomi Ardilles is from Peru and I saw that today is a national holiday in Peru, Independence day. won by José de San Martín from the Evil Spanish empire. What is more amazing is they did this all without the help of the French. With their new found independence they decided to invent tasty foods such as Chicaron, Chupe and fried egg over rice.

Other important info to know is Peru is as follows. Peru is called Peru and not Peruvia (Matt Austin) they have their own music and it is not the music in the new Indiana Jones movie, when driving your car, if you are approached by a person on the street you should pertend to have a gun. When looking for Ecuador on an american map simple draw a border across the northern portion of Peru and label it. Please do so in pencil as the border may change at any time. Peruvians are not Mexicans and Mexicans are not Peruvians. They feed their guest great quanities of food. In some instances they are not permitted to shot on goal in soccer games. The Potato comes from Peru as does every other food, invention, technology and fine cotton products. The garden of Eden was in Peru. The incas and not the Aztecs or Myians lived in Peru.

So now you are ready to interact with Peruvia’s culture without looking silly.

Zach and Post Church

2008
07.27

Church was a mix of english and Spanish. Pastor Tito preached on Genesis 16 and spoke about resting in the providence of God. Zach H. said his favorite part of worship today was the passion Tito spoke with. On the way home one van broke Sabbath by buying fresh tortillas and tasting amazing salsa.

Everyone is doing well. Joy has been back to normal, but please continue to pray for her. Still can’t get Nathan away from his phone, we have to do an intervention later. I did tell Gary (head construction guy) that Nathan wants to lay all the tile himself.

The remainder of today is relaxed. Mexican food, taking pictures of Nathan on phone. Students still have energy, tomorrow that all changes as work begins.
