To be completely honest “Something Awesome” was “Something Awkward” when the night began. It made me think of Moses parting the Red Sea the way each group stood off by themselves. However, getting over that awkwardness was one of the goals the evening and I believe we met that goal.
The night consisted of some games including, Would You Rather (example: Would you rather never be able to speak again or have to say everything that comes to your mind?), Kung Fu Fighters and People Bingo. After eating tons of cookies we came together for a time of worship through music. We requested organ music, but they were not able to find an organ on such short notice so we did our best to keep up. A band from Woodland Ridge lead worship and did a great job.
After singing I taught on the supremacy of the unity we have in Christ over every other belief and passion that unifies communities. The night ended with our embracing the awkwardness of meeting new people by everyone getting together with someone they’ve never met to learn three things about each other and ask how we might pray for each other. It was a great time of fellowship and worship with the broader body of Christ.
