Breakaway: April 2nd{0}

This week at Breakaway we began with the classic contest of who can lick and stick gummy lifesavers to the face of their friend the fastest. In the first round Connor and Rudy won as well as Emily and Emily who as a super team are better known as M&M. In the second round M&M fought hard to win by a mere two seconds over Rudy and Connor. The winners of course won a roll of lifesavers.
Our Bible study covered the first 20 verses of Mark 4 where Christ tells and then later explains the parable of the sower. One student shared with us that his dad always tells him you reap what you sow, when asked what that means we admitted, “I have no idea.”It reminded me of my own childhood when my disobeyed our father and were told that he would, “clean your [our] plow.” I knew it was serious, but I for the life of me could not figure out why cleaning a plow would be so bad. Many years later I learned you bang something against a plow to knock the mud and dirt off it.
This week the Elementary played a game of super soccer using a huge soccer ball (shown with A.J. “Lopez” below). At the same time the junior high had a good laugh playing Apples to Apples where Ashton, Daniel and Sophie dominated.

Finally the funniest moment of the night came during parent pick up time. Elder Bob Reymond was standing to the side watching students play. Logan Vesper was walking near the basketball hoop when a ball came very close to hitting him. At this same moment a small blue basketball rolled towards Elder Reymond. When he saw the ball almost hit Logan he shouted a general warning to those playing near Logan to be careful they don’t hit him with one of the balls. Before the words were out of his mouth Mr. Reymond instinctively kicked the small blue basketball sending it in a straight line at Logan where it hit him in the back of the legs. Logan was not hurt, but the irony of the situation was cause for rolling laugher for all he watched it unfold.

See you next week!
