This week we will finally have the shaving cream hair contest (I expect some hair styles as cool as Beckham above) and study Mark 2:18-28 which covers fasting and the Sabbath. Parents, I encourage you to talk to your children about your family’s view of practicing a Sabbath rest. If you want to study it more you might look at the Westminster Confession of Faith’s section on the Sabbath. I’ve put it below (click on read the rest of this entry) along with some relevant Scripture texts for your convenience.
WCF 21.8 “This Sabbath is then kept holy unto the Lord, when men, after a due preparing of their hearts, and ordering of their common affairs beforehand, do not only observe an holy rest, all the day, from their own works, words, and thoughts about their worldly employments and recreations;(1) but also are taken up, the whole time, in the public and private exercises of His worship, and in the duties of necessity and mercy.”
